Upstairs Closets

The upstairs closets (not pictured) are often referred to as the key to the commission of the crime.  Some say the killer hid in the closet off the master bedroom.  Once the family and their guests were asleep, so the theory goes, the killer emerged and killed everyone.  There is no evidence that anyone was hiding in any closet.  In fact, the Moore house was so tiny, and storage space was so limited, that they hung clothing along the stairway.  Further, there were boxes and other items crowded into the closets.  In short, the closets were full.   It's unlikely that anyone secreted themselves in a closet and then emerged "silently" covered in clothing and hangers, swinging an axe, and casting hat boxes in all directions.
